Maple Chocolate Walnut Bars

Ingredients

1 1/2 cupsall purpose flour
2/3 cupsugar
1/2 tspsalt
3/4 cupcold butter
2eggs
1 canSweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz)
1/2 tspmaple flavoring
2 cupsfinely chopped Walnuts
1 cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. IN large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.
  3. Using pastry blender, cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Stir in 1 beaten egg.
  5. Press evenly into 13x9" baking pan.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile in medium bowl, beat milk, remaining egg and flavoring. Stir in chopped walnuts
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips over prepared crust. Top with walnut mixture.
  9. Return to oven and make for 20 minutes, or until golden.
  10. Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars once cooled.
  11. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

Note

Recipe notes dated 2/25/96: Used food processor to cut in butter. Dough was sticky after adding egg.
