Frosted Peanut Butter Brownies

1 1/2 cupsbutter, divided
1/3 cupcocoa
2 cupssugar
1 1/2 cupsall purpose flour
1/2 tspsalt
1 tspvanilla extract


18 ozjar of chunky peanut butter
1/3 cupmilk
10 largemarshmallows
1/4 cupcocoa
16 ozpowdered sugar


  1. Cook 1 cup butter (2 sticks) and 1/3 cup cocoa in a sauce pan over low heat until butter melts, stirring often
  2. Remove from heat and cool slightly
  3. Combine sugar, flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add chocolate mixture and beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until blended. Spread mixture into 15x10 in jellyroll pan
  5. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean
  6. While brownies are cooking, remove lid from peanut butter jar, microwave peanut butter at medium (50% power) 2 minutes, stirring once. Spread peanut butter over warm brownies.
  7. Chill for 30 minutes
  8. Cook remaining 1/2 cup butter, milk and marshmallows in large saucepan over medium heat, stirring often until marshmallows melt
  9. Remove from heat and whisk in 1/4 cup cocoa. Gradually stir in powdered sugar until smooth.
  10. Spread frosting over peanut butter. Chill 20 minutes.
  11. Cut brownies into squares.
